One of the coolest magical weapons featured in film has to be the Elder Wand from the Harry Potter series of films.

Although also known as the Deathstick, the Wand of Destiny, the Eldruhn Wand, the Ellhorn Wand, and also as one of the Deathly Hallows, the Elder Wand is probably most well known as Dumbledore’s Wand.

What is surprising is finding an authentic replica of Dumbledore’s Elder Wand isn’t as easy as you’d first expect, mainly because most of the replica’s that are out there don’t look quite like the wand as featured in the film, despite claiming that they are exact replicas. And, of course, some of them are just toys.

If you’re looking for a decent replica that isn’t a toy, then first of all you want to make sure it matches the look of the wand seen in the film. The image below will help with that.

HARRY POTTER Elder Wand Replica

The best one’s to my view are the replicas that come straight from Olivander’s in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in Orlando. There they call it ‘Professor Dumbledore Collectible Hero Wand’ but true Harry Potter fans know what it’s really called.

Check out the Universal Studios Elder Wand replica:

Professor Dumbledore Elder Wand Prop Replica

Universal’s version is sculpted in resin and measures 15.75 inches long. Wand box as pictured is also included.

The best price I can find on these is $41.97 via Ebay (brand new with free postage in the US). That’s around $8 cheaper than the next best price and even $150 cheaper than what I’ve seen these going for from some vendors.

If you want one at that price follow the link below:

The next best replica comes from The Noble Collection:

Dumbledores Elder Wand by Noble Collection

Made of resin, Noble Collection’s version is 15 inches long (almost 3/4 inch shorter than Universals replica) but comes complete with a replica of the wand box as featured in the film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

You can actually get these for only $35 from Amazon at the link below:

Neither of these replicas are toys – they are legitimate replica’s designed to be showcased in a serious Harry Potter wand collection.

BATMAN BEGINS Grapnel Gun Prop Replica

This is a replica of Batman’s Grapnel Gun from Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins.

Batman’s Grapnel Gun was used by the Dark Knight to move from the ground to the rooftops of Gotham City.

This is a full scale gun replica that measures 16″ in length (including a display) and weighs 8.2 pounds.

There’s a couple of these floating around, usually going for somewhere between $190 and $290 (yes, that much of a difference). The best price going at the moment is via Amazon:

Though you may be content with grabbing Noble Collection’s Sting Sword prop replica based on Peter Jackson’s new The Hobbit trilogy, there’s still another great Sting Sword prop replica to consider.

It’s Noble Collections Sword of Frodo (Collector’s Edition).

This is a super-high quality Sting Sword Prop replica that is a full sized sword that measures over 27 inches in length.

The handle is in bas relief and is hand enameled.

Comes complete with an official, “The Lord of the Rings” plaque (measuring 37 inches) and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from New Line Cinema.

You won’t find this anywhere other than the Noble Collection, since it was crafted by master sword makers in Toledo, Spain exclusively for them. So it is official and harder to find than many Sting Sword Prop Replicas.

Features a cast metal handle, leather wrapped grip and simulated gemstones.

It’s also the sister sword of Thorin Oakenshield’s Orcrist Sword Prop Replica.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey – Gandalf the Grey Glamdring Sword Prop Replica (via Entertainment Earth, $198.99)

Now this is going to look sweet in my collection. I really have to have this.

It’s the officially licensed Orcrist Sword Prop Replica by Noble Collection, based on the sword wielded in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey by Thorin Oakenshield, the leader of the dwarves.

This magical Elvin sword, whose name means “Orkspalter”, is the sister sword of Gandalf the Grey’s Glamdring Sword. The story goes that it was found in a troll lair in Rhûdaur while Thorin Oakenshield was on a journey to Erebor. It was forged by the high Elves of the West and is magical. It shimmers with light when in the presence of orcs.

This is a high quality movie weapon prop replica that comes with a die-cast metal display stand (viewable in the second image above).

The blade is stainless tempered steel and measures 36-inches in length overall. It features a curved leaf shape on one side, and a straight edge on the other.

Pre-order at the link below for $189.99. It ships in January 2013.

Another top quality Harry Potter collectible is this Noble Collection produced reproduction of Lord Voldemort’s Wand.

The wand, which is a limited edition item, measures 14 inches in length and is a 1:1 scale prop replica.

Comes with a collector’s box.

Note that this is not a toy for a kid. The wand is quite lightweight and fragile, so you won’t want to throw it around. It’s a genuine limited edition prop replica for those who are serious about their Harry Potter collectibles.

The link you need is below.

Harry Potter Lord Voldermort’s Wand in Ollivander’s Box (on Amazon) $34.99

Check out this high grade replica of the Batarang from Christopher Nolan’s THE DARK KNIGHT.

Crafted by The Noble Collection based on the design in the film, this officially licensed replica measures 9-inches wide (including the display).

Looks pretty cool but I have to say no matter how I search I can’t seem to find a lot of information on what this is actually made out of or just how “high grade” it really is.

In any case, it’s generally priced around the $69 mark wherever you look:

THE DARK KNIGHT Batarang Prop Replica with Display (on Amazon) $68.99
THE DARK KNIGHT Batarang Prop Replica with Display (from Entertainment Earth) $68.99

You might save a handful of dollars if you can snap it up on auction at eBay:
