Warehouse 13 Tesla Prop Steampunk Raygun

On one hand I hate Warehouse 13 as I think its popularity was probably the reason Eureka got cancelled. On the other hand I love it for all the nods it hands out to the late but great Nikola Tesla.

One of those nods is the aptly named Tesla gun – an electrically based steampunk style raygun used by Warehouse 13 agents (because bullets are so yesterday). That and it has the bonus side effect of erasing your short-term memory.

If you want a Tesla gun you can always opt for the kit version. But if you want it already fully assembled and, for that matter, if you want the best replica of this gun there is, then there’s no question that the limited edition Tesla Artisan Hero Prop is your huckleberry.

It’s a limited edition of only 500 pieces worldwide and it’s pure awesome.

Features:

  • Hand-built from more than 70 parts
  • Screen-accurate to the original TV prop (most parts digitally modeled from the original prop by Kenney’s Custom Props whose credits include weapon props for shows like Battlestar Galactica and Fringe)
  • Precise modeling based on laser scans and computer-aided design
  • Custom handmade acrylic cylinders for the vacuum tubes
  • A baked-on black chrome finish that creates a mirror effect on the end caps of the vacuum tubes
  • Custom-coiled springs and hand-coiled copper tubing
  • Custom-cast Bakelite knob
  • Comes with a hand-rubbed zebrawood base and graceful brass pedestal
  • Carefully wrapped in canvas and packed in a handmade wooden crate

If you want it you’ll have to hurry. These are not easy to find and will set your bank account back a little when you do find one, but right now if you want one you’re in luck via the link below (while it lasts):

Nerf Vortex Proton Blaster

Normally I never post a weapon that isn’t a replica from a movie, TV series, video game or comic. But today I’m breaking my own rule because after staring in amazement at the images of this modified Nerf vortex proton blaster I just had to post it.

If you didn’t know, Nerf is a toy brand owned by Hasbro that produces mostly foam based toy weaponry. Those toys are made of plastic and they fire foam bullets. You can find them on Amazon .

In the following image you can see a comparison of the original toy versus what it now looks like thanks to some incredible professional custom modification work:

Custom-Nerf-Vortex-Proton-Blaster

Seriously, that’s just outright amazing. If you didn’t see the toy in the first place you’d have absolutely no idea that this isn’t a full metal weapon.

The seller refers to this as the ‘Blade Runner’ special custom heavy metal version. It features a brushed metal weathered look derived from 4 coats of paint and a matte finish to protect the paint.

Like the original toy this gun can still fire Nerf foam discs, 3 of which are included.

The workmanship is clearly studio grade judging by the images and as claimed in the product listing. Interestingly, the seller states the pictures don’t do the blaster justice and that most buyers are more impressed by the real-life prop than by these images. If that’s true then this is certainly an impressive weapon to add to your sci-fi weapon collection. It’s a toy made for firing too, so I don’t see why it couldn’t be used for cosplay or even LARP.

At only $39.99 it’s a mere $20 more than the standard retail price of the toy which blows my mind.

MEN-IN-BLACK-II-Noisy-Cricket-Prop-Replica-Unobtanium

If you’re looking for a rare and elusive replica movie weapon this one is it.

It’s the Unobtainium manufactured limited edition Noisy Cricket from Men in Black II.

Unobtainium was a company started by industry insider professionals whose main aim was to bring only the highest quality movie prop replicas to the public. They obtained official licenses to release replicas from Men in Black II, Star Trek, Spiderman and more, yet despite their undeniable high quality work they ended up closing their doors and shutting down their operation.

Before they did go under they began work on producing a limited edition run of the Noisy Cricket gun, Agent J’s personal sidearm from MIB II. It was released in 2002.

The Noisy Cricket replia was to be a limited edition run of 2,500 pieces. Information is scant on how many pieces they actually produced. Some say only 250, others say in the area of 800. Consensus seems to be the truth is more in the 1,200-1,500 area. Either way, the result is the Unobtainium Noisy Cricket is now one of those high quality movie prop replicas that is considered rare and highly sought after by collectors and MIB fans alike.

Features of the Noisy Cricket:

  • life-size (modeled to the correct size of the weapon that appears in MIB II)
  • body is aluminium
  • grip is rubber
  • includes a working trigger that illuminates the cylinder and has a spring loaded hammer.
  • included a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) from Amblin Entertainment and Columbia Pictures
  • shipped with a clear lucite display stand and black mirror-finish display base
  • numbered plaque
  • came in an original Unobtainium box decal
  • requires two CR1220 coin cell batteries
  • less than 1,500 believed to be in existence

This is Unobtainium’s original sales blurb:

Working closely with the studio, our engineers were given access to the actual props used in the production of MIB II. Having a direct, hands-on study of that which was used on film has insured that each and every replica offered by Unobtainium Ltd. is a beautiful recreation of its screen-used counterpart.

Manufactured of high grade, computer-machined aluminium, each piece ships with a custom presentation box and Certificate of Authenticity.

The otherworldly green glow of the Cricket’s power core is activated with a simple pull of the trigger. Limited to a production of only 2,500 pieces world-wide.

V-TV-Series-1983-Visitor-Stunt-Pistol

This is a stunt Visitor pistol from the original 1983 science fiction television mini-series V.

This original pistol was created for the production and would have been used for scenes when the gun was not to be fired.

The stunt pistol is made of dense foam, and has been crafted to represent a futuristic, alien technology.

The barrel and the grip have the look of a modern pistol, however, in the middle is a section that comes out of the hand grip and connects to the barrel, forming a square shape, giving the pistol a second handle.

Running through the barrel is a clear, plastic rod, used for support, which is partially exposed in the middle. In the hero versions for the show, this exposed piece lit up when shot.

Due to production use and age, the back of the gun barrel has become slightly bent (see photos) and the trigger guard has become partially detached, leaving the piece in overall fair condition.

The item measures approximately 12″ x 6″ (31cm x 15cm).

This item comes with a Prop Store Certificate of Authenticity.

Limited Edition James Bond MOONRAKER Laser Prop Replica

This is Factory Entertainment’s prop replica of the laser weapon featured in the 1979 James Bond classic Moonraker.

This is a highly detailed, highly authentic reproduction of the original laser prop that was created by EON Productions. EON’s archives were used to ensure this replica maintains the exact casting asymmetry of the original, including details that weren’t completely visible on screen. Factory Entertainment conducted exhaustive study and referenced hundreds of photographs, original production drawings and blueprints.

Triggers were deliberately omitted to allow actors wearing thick astronaut style gloves to use the props, and so this prop comes without a trigger for authenticity.

Backstory to the original Moonraker laser prop:

The laser prop is first seen being used by an MI6 operative disguised as a monk in a Brazilian field office. Many more of them are later seen during the climatic final battle sequence, both as hand held weapons and mounted onto US Marines’ space walk apparatus. The original props were resin and rubber with no moving parts. They were specially constructed for the film by the EON Productions prop department, and a large number of them were crafted. The body was constructed around a casting taken from an ‘Uzi’ machine gun. Various real world parts, including plumbing supplies, were then added to complete the fantasy look. Laser effects seen on screen were added later during post production using a complex and labor-intensive animation technique known as ‘rotoscoping’. Totally cutting edge at the time the process has been all but been replaced by modern digital effects today. The laser also featured heavily in the films marketing and promotion and is seen being wielded by Bond in the iconic illustrated poster artwork.

There’s no doubt that this replica is visually indistinguishable from the original. However, a heavier weight polyresin and an internal support frame have been employed on the replica to give it more heft and strength than the original.

Additional features:

  • A museum quality display stand
  • A numbered limited edition plaque
  • Certificate of Authenticity
  • Detailed prop story booklet
  • Full color box designed to emulate the distinctive ‘Drax Enterprise Corp’ shipping crates seen in the film.

This weapon replica is currently in production, but can be pre-ordered via Ebay at the link below for $299.95:
